The restaurant has street parking and as we left noticed they also have a parking lot in back. There seems to always be a line in front and today was no exception but we didn't wait too long. We were greeted with such a friendly staff, very surprising given how busy they always are. Someone takes your order and you can either do takeout or if there is room dinein but there aren't that many tables. While you wait they have self serve water both still and sparkling! This was so awesome to me. Since we finally got to try this place after hearing sooo much about it we ordered a bit of everything. We tried a sando medium hot, a sando country (none spicy), chicken and waffles mild and banana pudding. The sando was delicious. I loved the balance of the juicy chicken with the cole slaw and pickles but I think with the slaw the spicy chicken sando was the better balance. For the chicken and waffles I got wings. The spicy sweet flavor was good and the meat was just so juicy. The waffles had such a good balance of soft and chewy texture. I have to say between the sando and waffles I think I like the waffles more but the sando is also very good. The banana pudding is good. You can taste pieces of banana and the pudding was a nice dense texture. This place really does live up to the hype and more. I am still so impressed by the staff and ambience of the place.

This was my first visit to howlin Ray's in several years. I had only gone once before at the Chinatown location during the peak of the never-ending lines. In fact the lines were so thick that you couldn't see any businesses behind them and this was even during weekday mornings or any time of the week. There are still lines at this location but they are not so bad that you will turn around. There were about seven parties ahead of me just ahead of the lunch rush today. I would say the time waiting in line and waiting for my order was about 30 minutes and it did go by fast. Not to mention that they have the best nugget ice machine and a faucet would still and sparkling water while you wait. I wonder if that is due to the spiciness. I just loved the luxury of having good water and ice available. There is an employee who has a mobile device and can take orders for people in line. He was super pleasant and engaged in conversation in a very natural way. In fact even when I picked up the order, the employee stopped to ask me how my day was going. The service is lovely and the dining room is spotless. I have high tolerance for spicy but somehow hot chicken gets me up the throat due to the powdered chili. I ordered a mild this time and enjoyed it a lot more than my first visit. I would say a mild here is like a spicy at other places. My nose started watering just after a few bites of the chicken. The waffles are lightly sprinkled with powdered sugar and come with butter and maple. Unfortunately my food got a little soggy in the takeout box during the 15 minute or so ride back home. It was still good.

Everything was delicious! The sandwiches are so flavorful and they pair so well with a beer. The service was also really good-- kind people and with good energy. They helped seat us, we ate outdoors and it was just good vibes! I was listening to Chicken Fried and my date chose this spot. Happy we got to have some chicken fried and a cold beer... even if it was on a Thursday and not a Friday night. We will be back again.

Got to try the sando and half bird. I personally prefer their fried chicken over the sando. Even the fried chicken breast was super moist. Got mild for the half bird, and it really wasn't spicy at all, will definitely try medium next time. I almost got hot for the sando, but the server warned me against it which was a really great call because medium+ (spice level between medium and hot) was still really spicy! I would love to try their chicken and waffles next time. Ordering was really easy, staff were all super nice and welcoming, and the restaurant is really clean and cute. Went around 6pm and waited around 30 minutes to order + get my order. They have a parking lot but it gets full really fast.
